University student

Finally, I’m gonna be a university student in Canada next year! I’ve gone to language school since last Sep. and now, I’m in level 5. Usually we can’t enter the university without passing level 6, the highest level of our language school, but luckily I can enter SMU without passing the hardiest level! I appealed to the international student manager of SMU to take university courses. I think my English is not good enough to take any university courses but I really want to take them and study something in English. That’s why I am in here and taking university courses must improve my English skills dramatically. I know university courses are more difficult than language courses, but I’m so excited now J And winter vacation is coming soon!! It’s also makes me happy!! But before it, I have to finish 2 research papers and CanTest L aww, it’s killing me… in addition this, I have a clod. I feel a little bit better now and I feel hungry but if I eat something, I have a stomachache. So I can’t eat…. Hmm, what should I do for me??

Party*party*party =)

              This weekend, I took part in 3 parties. They hold on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

              Thursday’s party was suddenly one. I was invited one of my Japanese friends on Wednesday night and I invited my Canadian friend on Thursday. He brought other Canadian guy, and this guy also brought another guys… so this party became a little bit big one. Because of the number we had to wait about an hour, but this party was very fun! We ate a lot of chicken wings and drank tons of beer :P I have a morning class on Friday, so I intended to go back to residence after the dinner. But alcohol makes me happy and I said yes to invitation to go to nightclub. We danced at there until 2:00am. I was very drunk but it was really fun time. I went to bet around 4:00am….

              On Friday, I woke up at 8:00am as usual! I took a shower quickly and called to my boyfriend, because November 7 is his birthday!! Actually I had to call him at yesterday night, because you know, there are 13 hours time difference between Japan and East Canada. I was so tired but I tried to hide that :P I hope he didn’t get angry. After the morning class, I met my conversation partner and went to her house to prepare for our party. Her house was neat and cute and there are 2 cats and dog. Actually I’m afraid of dogs but somehow I could pat her dog. First of all, we backed chocolate cake. To read recipe in English was a little difficult for me, but I often bake cakes so I could understand them. In addition cake, we also cooked Yakitori, cheese and macaroni, and rice. It took about 3 hours but my conversation partner and I like cooking, so it was not tough work for us. Our friends told us “these dishes were so delicious, thank you” so we were so happy. Probably we will have parties again!

              On yesterday night, I went to nightclub with my friends. We go out every weekend and enjoy dancing. I really like to go to nightclub these guys :D I wore a new one-piece to there. I like it but someone spill over drink to me! That’s sucks :’( It’s a knit, so I can’t wash it easily :S I wish it’s not smells alcohol.

              This weekend was a little bit busy for me but it was awesome!! I wanna skip tomorrow classes, but I will drink at my friend’s room on tomorrow night, so I’m exciting now!

Oath

Today I received the CanTest’s score of Fall 1. I wanted to go into a level 6, but I couldn’t… I am eager to get out TESL as soon as possible, so I’ll try to study hard in Fall 2 and Winter 1.

 

To improve my English skills,

1. I write about something in English everyday (about 1 paragraph)

2. I read a couple of pages of English books everyday (10 to 15 minutes)

3. I speak more with Canadian, such as my roommate and friends.

4. I watch the news and try to understand as much as possible.

Take a walk

It is a beautiful sunny day today. After I did my homework, I went to the Point Pleasant Park to take a walk. It is a big and good park for taking a walk. I walked to the sea. A view of the ocean is great. I sit a bench and looked blankly at the ocean with listening music. When I was listening “sobani irune” by Aoyama, Teruma, I suddenly remembered my boyfriend, felt solitary and burst out crying. I know I made decision by myself and he support my challenge, but he have never called me and said “I miss you” to me. Yesterday, I said to him, “I wanna spend Christmas with you at NY”, but he said “I have to do many things on New Year’s Day and have no money.” It is sure that coming to NY takes high cost and long time, but I miss him and wanna meet him very mush. I wouldn’t think bad thing but perhaps he doesn’t mess me…

Pickup

Day before yesterday, I was got picked up by Chinese guy. I mean he suddenly gave his e-mail address and asked my e-mail address. I told him easily, but it was suck!!!! After class, he mailed to me and asked my room number and telephone ext. I didn’t tell these so I ignore him, but he is really persistent. Finally I wrote:

 

“don’t you look my state? now I’m talking with my daring, so I have no time to chat with you. I wouldn’t tell my room number!!”

 

Can you guess what he said? He answered:

 

“never mind”

 

I can’t understand why he said so. He still asks my weekend plan. I have no plan on Sunday, but of cause I said “I have plans on this weekend.”

 

I feel a little scary, and don’t want to see his face, but I have same class with him on every Monday and Wednesday L oh my god!!!

Yoga

I took part in Yoga class with my friends today. It is took place in Tower, my University’s fitness centre, and free program. I have done yoga on wii fit, but attending yoga class was my first time. I have wanted to learn yoga, so this class is very good for me. I could some of poses, but the others are difficult for me. I want to continue to join this class and master all of poses. During yoga class, I didn’t feel any pain but now I feel muscular pain. It will be hard tomorrow… somehow or other, I like this pain :P

After the yoga class, I checked body weight. I don’t get weight :D I wanna keep my weight!!!

How time flies!

I’ve came Canada on 27 Aug. and 3 weeks run out all too quickly. I have experienced new things for the past 3 weeks. For example, I sow the Niagara Falls, took part in school event, and made many friends.

First, on 27 August, we left Kumamoto airport and arrived Toronto airport. It took about 12 hours. We were so tired because of long flight. As soon as we got to Toronto airport, rode in bus to Niagara. We reached Niagara around 9:00 p.m. You know, we were very tiered, but beautiful sight of the Niagara Falls made us feel alive. The illuminated falls and fireworks were so beautiful. Next morning, we boarded a maid of the mist, which is popular attraction of the Niagara Falls and go in to the Falls. It was powerful and fun.

Second, we took part in school events. There are many orientations and games in the first week. Above all, “turf burn” was very interesting. It was held for freshman of my University students and we did many crazy games. First, I couldn’t come out of my shell, but through these games, I opened up myself. “Coffee and doughnut” is also my favorite event. It’s had every Friday and we can eat many doughnuts. On first Friday, I ate 4 doughnuts and I felt sick at the stomach.

Finally, I made many friends for the past 3 weeks. I got to know through events and class. There are many international students in my University. Our English skills are not good enough yet, so it is a little difficult to communicate in English. Some times I am annoyed at my English skills, because I want to say something but I can’t transfer into English. For better communicate, I have to study English very hard :P

I can’t believe I am already staying Canada over 3 weeks. Probably this year will pass quickly. I won’t regret, so I wanna try to anything and do my best.

now, every things are new for me. Listening and understanding what people say is difficult for me. but if i said "I can't understand" to them, almost people speak more slowly and simply. maybe there are many difficult things in my future, but i'll do my best!!

my last part-time job

Today I did my last part-time job. I have worked as a teacher of cram school for 3 months. I taught all subject to elementary-school and junior high school students. To teach subject is not easy for me but it is good experience for me. When my students solve questions, they smile. I like looking them smile. I also like talking with them in a break time. Now I aim to be an English teacher in Japanese junior high or high school, but I want to take a elementary school teacher’s license too. I love children so much!!

Actually I want to continue this part time job until leaving Japan. But I have to prepare for study abroad. To gain good TOEFL score, I would like to do my best.

AMAKUSA

I was back to my hometown- Amakusa, from May 3 to May 6. This time homecoming is not just to relax but to conduct my Chinese friends through Amakusa.

May 3. My father and I picked my friends up and left Kumamoto city for Amakusa city at 9:00 a.m. When I get home on holiday, I am usually caught in a traffic jam. But this time the street was not so clotted with traffic. We arrived Amakusa at noon. Then, we went to dolphin watching. Amakusa is famous for dolphin, many people come to watch them. And this day was also many people came to there. There were many people and ship, but fortunately, our ship were in only 7(include us). So we could watch any place in the ship. I had watched dolphin a few times, but every time I can enjoy it! It was very fun for me. After that, we ate Chinese noodle for lunch and went to my house. My Chinese friends were surprised to see my house, because there are little a detached house in China. They were relaxed in my house and 2 of them were back to Kumamoto city by bus. The other one, May, was stay at my home.

May 4. My father May, and I went to church. Amakusa has Christian since long time ago. There are 2 old churches in Amakusa. It is also famous place. In past days, Christianity was prohibited by national policy. So some people turned to hidden Christian and professed Christianity. To trouble from government is difficult for them and finally the war was started. We call this war “Amakusa-Shimabara no ran”. I learned about this war when I was elementary school student. But actually it was first time for me to see and enter these churches. It was good for me to learn about the war again. On this day, May was back to Kumamoto city by bus. She left Amakusa at 3:00 p.m. but she arrived at 8:00 p.m.!! May be it was terrible traffic jam. After she left Amakusa, my sister and I backed chocolate cake for mother’s day. It was delicious and my mother glad to eat it. It was my pleasure too!

May 5. This evening my family celebrated my father’s and mine birthday. We ate many dishes and spend fun time. After the eating, we went to karaoke, it was also fun.

May 6. I was back to Kumamoto city with my parents. We stop by at “kurea” on our way home. My parents watched movie, during they enjoy the movie, I was enjoyed shopping. I bought many things and I was satisfied with it.

This holiday was fun for me. At first I intended to study English for TOEFL, but I hardly study. So I have to study very hard from today. And I must be on a diet!! I gain weight about 2 kg in this holiday ;-(

Birthday party

We hold a party at April 23. It was my friend’s and mine birthday party. Her birthday is April 21 and mine is April 20, so we celebrated together. 3 more friends come to our party.

First, we ate dinner at “tubohachi”. We ate many dishes. It was delicious and we were satisfied with them. At them, I got birthday present from Ayano, one of my friend. The present is a pretty pig money box. I would like to save for study abroad.

After that, we went to Karaoke-kan. We entered room 207, this room look to shimo-tori, so we were looked by passer. Some people wave them hand at us. We were very enjoyed singing.

This party was very fun. I want to have a party with them again!

I want to perfectly understand English movies without Japanese caption until next year. welcome party

I took part in Welcome party. It held on exchange student's dorm. There were a lot of country dishes from many countries. They were delicious! Especially I liked chocolate fondue. I love sweets :-D I talked with many exchange students, not only native English speaker but also another language speaker. It was very good time for me, because I made some friends and I promised to go dorm another day. May be it will be able to improve my English skills!

freshman camp

This weekend I took part in “freshman camp” as a camp staff. I planed game1, flute basket. Planning good way to entertain freshman with this game was a little hard work for we. We discussed several times. Actually I had a little worry about doing this game but I think it succeeds. I was glad to see freshman’s smile. I made many friends in this camp not only Japanese students but also exchange students. It was also good things for me.

I watched “L change the world” with my family. But we thought we can get better seats because this movie has shown since February 9, so we thought this film may be not so popular now. It was different. There were no best seats but bad seats; forward seats. We have to look up the screen and watching full screen was tough work and it makes me stiff shoulder. Of cause this film are fun but we were rtired.

This film is the spin off of a series of “Death note”. “Death note” are very popular films so I think “L” become popular one too. We arrived at theater 15:30, it is time for this movie’s start.

Where is my key??

I lost my apartment’s key. Yesterday when I came back home from barber, I am sure opened the door by my key. So may be my room key is in my apartment. But I couldn’t find my key. I called my boyfriend and asked him to bring my room key. I made a spare key. But the key was worthless. It cannot open the door!! I went the key shop twice and repair the spare key. But it is still worthless key. I have to go the key shop tomorrow…

BLOOD DIAMOND

I watched Blood Diamond on DVD. This film is directed by Edward Zwick and starring Leonardo DiCaprio. This is an advancer film. I was surprised to know that many people have killed for diamond.

Not so long years ago, civil wars had broken out in Sierra Leonean. One day Solomon’s town were raided by RUF - Revolutionary United Front. He could save his family but he was captured from RUF. His work was searching for diamond. Many prisoners were working at there and many RUF soldiers overlooked prisoners. If prisoner put diamond in his pocket, he killed immediately. One day, Solomon found big pink diamond. He put is between his toes. He pretended to go toilet and tried to bury it. But the RUF boss was looking him. At that time, attack from government was started. He buried it and ran away but he caught by government and he entered jail.

At the jail, Solomon met Danny. Danny is a diamond buyer and he thought rob Solomon of his pink diamond. Danny and Solomon went to Sierra Leonean again and looked for the diamond. Many people aimed them and diamond.

Finally Danny and Solomon got the diamond. At first, Danny plotted to grab the diamond, but he shot and he couldn’t move any more. So he said to Solomon that get much money and get back him family by this diamond. Danny instructed to deal with London’s big diamond company and ask Solomon to disclose the company’s injustice. Unfortunately, Danny died, but the numbers of blood diamonds were decreased.

In fact, many blood diamonds were sold for people. In 2003, the regulation for blood diamond was established. But it is not clear if there are no blood diamonds on market. We must keep in mind that many people have been killed for diamond.

I watched Sweeney Todd with my friend. It is directed by Tim Burton. Jonny Depp play the leading character in this film. Under 15 years old persons are not allowed to watch this film, because it is very grotesque one. Todd (Jonny Depp) kills many persons by razor blade in this film. Many times blood was splashed. I was really felt badly. I had already known that this film is grotesque and many people were killed by Jonny before I watched it. But I love Jonny and I was waiting for its release and go to movie… Almost film makes me happy or satisfactory. But this time, it’s not. I don’t want to see this movie again. However songs are good. Especially I like Johanna. It is song for a Johanna who is enclosed in house by her guardian. A man looked her and felt in love and he tried to steal (help) her. I would like to my lover say “I fill you, and I’ll steal you” to me in my future.

Spring vacation's plan

Spring vacation in university is long, it is for 2 months. I want to use this vacation usefully. Every vacation I had hoped so but I couldn’t. For spend good vacation, I’ll write down spring vacation’s plan here.

First, I’ll study English. I want to and have to get good scores on TOEFL-ITP. I’m poor in grammar section so I’ll read grammar text and do workbook. For improve my listening skill, I’ll watch DVD without caption. Maybe it is very hard work for me so I’ll watch same movie again and again. After the watching I’ll write review on this blog. I know to gain good score is not easy. But I’ll try my best.

Second, I’ll prepare for study abroad. I have to write applications, get visa and ticket. Before go to Canada, I have to move my apartment so I have to clean my room little by little. I would like to plan to trip in Canada too.

Third I want to spend many times with my friends. On March we will go to Space word in Fukuoka. I like roller coaster very mush so I can’t wait for it. I’m not make plan clearly but I want to go somewhere with my boyfriend.

I want to spend very good vacation!

suggetions for successor

I have 3 advices to success in Writing IV.
First, you should make schedule for your blog. In this class, you should post many articles so if you idle about post, you might regret.
Second, you have to writing in Word. If you use Word, you can find mistakes easily. Finding grammar misstates are difficult for me. So it was useful tool for me. And word account was also useful tool. You should count how many words on your blog. If you use Word, you can do it easily.
Third, you have to try write long post. I know, to write long English sentences are hard work. At first, it was very hard for me. But now, it was not so hard. I think practice makes it easily.

Please enjoy making your blog and polish up your writing skill. I think write many sentences are good way for develop your skill. Please do your best!

Yesterday we held a farewell party at Jeff’s bar. It was for Yui and Hideyuki. They will go to Australia very soon. The party was very fun! We talked about study abroad. • I think writing many sentences in English are good for improving our writing skills. I can remove my dislike for writing in English. But sometimes I write wrong English on my blog. I am not good at English user still, so I couldn’t find my mistake. I usually use Word for creating posts, but it is also cannot to find my mistake. I think I need study English grammar more and more and I want to check my blog from native English speaker.

7.0. Suggestions for your peers and successors

• At first, writing many posts in English is very difficult and tired work for me. But now, it is not so hard. I did not post many times on September and October so I had to post many times on December and January. Writing many book reviews was very hard work for me. I think it is important for us to make up schedule for blog.

My grandmother's birthday

Today is my grandmother’s 73th birthday. I didn’t know her age but I hared that, I was very surprised, because she looks like very young. Our family ate a hot pot cooked at the table. It was so delicious and I ate too much. After the eating my grandmother, cousin, sister and I went to bowling. We did 2 games. On the first game, I was bottom person. I really regretted because I lost to my cousin –he is only 7 years old. On second game I was a second person. I was glad but the first was my grandmother. I think she is very powerful woman.

Book Review 2-19: Caps for sale

There was a peddler. He was sale caps but not ordinary peddler. He carried his caps on top of his head. Many caps were on there. These caps were not sale day and day. He felt tired and took rest with his caps on top of his head. He slept very well. When he awaked there were no caps on his head. Many monkeys had his caps. He took back caps from monkeys and backed to his hometown.

Book Review 2-18: Clifford's puppy days

Clifford is a pretty and big dog. This is a story of when he was a little dog. Emily, Clifford’s owner, took care when she plays with him, because he was too small to play with her. Emily’s toys were too big for him. Her bathtub was also big for he so he slipped off the soap and almost die! After that accident Emily bathed him in a soup bowl. One day her father uses that soup bawl and he was surprised that he herd Emily used the soup bawl for Clifford.

Book Review 2-15 :Curious George Goes to the Hospital

This story’s main character is George and he is a curious monkey. One day he found a big box. He opened it and there were many pieces of jigsaw puzzle. He thought it likes a piece of candy and he ate it. The next morning George had a stomachache. He went to the hospital and took a little operation. After the operation, he played at hospital’s kids’ room. He made many children happy even Betsy. Betsy is a girl patient and she rarely laugh. Nurses were also happy because they could see every child’s laughing face. George get a last piece of jigsaw puzzle from his stomach and he finished his puzzle.

Today I took part in coming of age day ceremony. This ceremony was started at 11; 00 a.m. But I woke up at 5; 30 a.m. because I reserved hair set and make-up at 6; 30. I need about 1 hour and 30 minutes. After make-up, I ware kimono. My mother’s friend dressed me. It took an hour. It was second time for me to wear kimono. It was uncomfortable but I like wearing kimono, because it is very beautiful I really like my kimono. I met many my old friends. Every body was beautiful. Some people I was remember, others I couldn’t remember his or her name. I asked his or her name to my friends. After the ceremony, I took many pictures with my friends. Wearing kimono was tired for me, but I was very excited meeting my friends.
At evening I went to old boys’ and girls’ meeting. There were many people and fun. But I was tired so I returned to the house in the middle of a party.
Today I was satisfied and happy.

New Year's Day

Today is New Year’s Day. My family stays in my grandmother’s –my father’s mother- house. We ate special dishes for example, oseti, ozouni, sushi, low fish, omiki, and so on. Oseti is Japanese traditional New Year’s dishes, there are many kinds of foods and it can last long time. Oaouni is also Japanese traditional dishes; rice cakes boiled with vegetables. I ate these special dishes in my father’s mother house for break fast and I ate special dishes again in my mother’s mother house for lunch, so I ate too mush dishes. After the lunch I went to shrine with my family and we bought talisman at there. Then we backed to our house. We got many New Year’s card but almost of them were for my mother. I got only 2 New Year’s card but I got many New Year’s e-mail from my friends. I checked lottery number. My father buy year-end lottery every year. This year, he bought 4 wad -12000 yen- it is more than last year. He and I thought we will get much money. But we hit only 3900 yen (;o;). He and I ware disappointed. I got that hit lottery, I have to cash them.
